Metallic Fabrics

Ausilk supplies Silk Metallics fabrics with silk and Lurex/Lame/Stainless Steel etc.

Lurex is the brand name for a type of yarn with a metallic appearance. The twine is most commonly a synthetic fibre, onto which an aluminium layer has been vaporised.  Ausilk use authentic LUREX yarn bought from Lurex company for some of our Silk Metallics fabrics. Lame is the term for regular metallic yarn with same construction, composition or structure, but not from the LUREX company with the registered trade mark. For either Lurex or Lame, the most commonly used 3 types are "golden", 'silver" & "transparent" yarns.

Stainless Steel is used in some of our "functional" fabrics, namely "MEMORY" silk fabrics.
